The Gospel of Luke, chapter 6 27 Now listen to this: love your enemies. Yes, do good for those who hate you. 28 Bless the people who curse you, and pray for those who abuse you. 29 If someone hits you in the face, don't stop them hitting you again. And if someone takes your coat, don't stop him taking your shirt as well. 30 Give to everyone who asks you for something, and if someone takes your possessions, don't ask for them back. 31 You should do for others the things you'd like them to do for you. 32 If you love only the people who love you, what's so good about that? Even bad people do that. 33 If you do good things only for those who do good things for you, what's the point of that? Even bad people do that. 34 And if you lend money only to those people that you hope will repay you, what's so good about that? Even bad people lend to each other if they think they're going to be repaid. 35 No, you must love your enemies, do good and lend to people even if there's no hope of being repaid. If you do, your reward will be great. You will be the children of the Highest. After all, he is kind to ungrateful and bad people. 36 So, be merciful, just as the Father is merciful. Home | Top |
